CPS HIRES Wavelength Solutions
On HIRES nights for the California Planet Survey (CPS), we set up the spectrometer so that ThAr lines across the echelle format fall on the same CCD pixels, to sub-pixel precision. Thus, all CPS spectra have the same wavelength solution, accurate to about a pixel. HIRES drifts throughout the night in wavelength zeropoint and dispersion at about the one pixel level.
